The same carbon rules land differently depending on the product. Start from the product family: check whether it is a CBAM good, then whether battery, ecodesign, packaging, deforestation or green-claims rules apply, and finally go to the industry dossier and life-cycle stage.

Products containing batteries

Battery carbon-footprint declarations, recycled-content targets and the data carrier (battery passport) from 2027-02.

Energy-using products placed on the EU market

ESPR ecodesign pulls carbon footprint and the digital product passport into design; PPWR governs packaging and recycled content.

Timber, pulp and agricultural products

EUDR zero-deforestation due diligence and geolocation traceability: pulp, paper and related farm products need due diligence before entering the EU.

Construction materials and products

The Construction Products Regulation adds to ETS and market-based carbon costs; CBAM covers cement, steel and aluminium products.

Regulated industrial gases

F-gas and methane rules impose reporting and reduction duties on refrigerants, energy and agricultural methane.

Consumer-facing products

The Green Claims Directive constrains "carbon neutral" and "eco" claims; unverified claims may not be marketed.
